With over 14,500 islands and more than 65,000 miles of shoreline, Lake of the Woods is a first-class wilderness recreation area for anglers, hunters, boaters and nature lovers.

Visitors marvel at much the same scenery the first explorers saw when they discovered Lake of the Woods more than 400 years ago. The topography is made up of tree-lined shores, sheer cliffs, craggy outcroppings and white sand beaches. Forests of pine, oak, poplar and birch blanket the islands and provide a habitat for innumerable plant and animal species.

Enjoy the fresh air and solitude, see wildlife in its natural habitat and appreciate the gentleness, the ruggedness, and natural scenic beauty of the many unique environments on Lake of the Woods.

For a change of pace, visit a native Powwow with traditional dancing and drummers competing from all over the country. The Big Grassy First Nations Annual Powwow is held for three days the first weekend in August.
The Big Island First Nations Annual Traditional Powwow is held during the third weekend in August.

Lighthouse Tour the Tomahawk Lighthouse which has been lovingingly restored by the Pentney family. Built in 1900 it operated until 1962. It's a great way to go back in time to the age of the steamboat.

Spend a day hiking right in Morson or at Painted Rock Island exploring for ancient native rock paintings. Please do not touch or mar these ancient drawings.

Outdoor activities remain as Morson's biggest draw. Throughout the season, visitors come for fishing, hunting, boating, camping, swimming and hiking.
